Since her debut in 2019, Taiga Torayami has been a quietly steady force in the VTubing world—chaotic in tone, but clear in purpose. After a long-awaited return and the launch of a creator-led agency, she’s once again stepping into the spotlight. Here’s what she had to say about the journey so far, and what’s still to come.
Q1. How did you decide to become a VTuber, and what inspired you to join VSekai’s “APEX!!” generation?
I’ve been part of the VTubing scene since 2019, though I started under a different alias. My first spark came from watching PewDiePie collaborate with Kizuna Ai—it felt like this perfect meeting of two worlds I loved: streaming and idol culture. I was instantly hooked.
Back then, VTubing was a small, wholesome community. I scraped together $400 to commission my first model and rig, starting with Facerig and eventually moving to Live2D. And from there, things really took off.
VSekai and “APEX!!” were born out of a desire to build something different. My partner and I had seen how damaging the corpo side of this industry could be. So we created a space that was transparent, talent-first, and grounded in experience. We debuted our duo unit in April 2025—and honestly, it’s only the beginning.
Q2. As a variety streamer, what kind of content excites you the most right now?
I have way too many ideas to list! But I love anything that lets me be unpredictable and energetic—like horror games, Just Chatting streams, tomboy ASMR, or even con vlogs for YouTube. I’m also working on bigger, still-secret projects that push the creative limits even further.
Q3. You are known for your advocacy for sexual positivity. How do you plan to incorporate these values into your streaming and interactions with your audience?
I try to keep it balanced. I’m not overtly lewd on main, but I do embrace confident, playful energy. My main account is semi-seiso, and then I have a side account (@onlytaigs) for more NSFW and IRL content. The goal is to create safe spaces that reflect different sides of me—without ever making anyone uncomfortable.
Q4. Your fanbase will be known as “Rockstars.” How do you envision fostering a close bond with them?
They’re not just fans—they’re the reason I exist. I involve them in so much, from game polls to merch brainstorming. I check in with them every day on Discord, and we’re starting monthly community events like movie nights and game nights. It’s all about having fun together while keeping healthy boundaries. They’re my little chaotic family.
Q5. What are your aspirations as a virtual idol?
Performing live. Singing original songs. Appearing at conventions. Maybe even hosting small private concerts someday. I’m working with some top producers right now—who also happen to be good friends—and I’ve spent years learning the technical side so I can be as hands-on as possible. What I need now is time, support, and momentum.
Q6. You’re primarily an English-speaking VTuber. How do you plan to reach a global audience?
I plan to translate my content, add subtitles, maybe even voiceovers. I want fans from anywhere in the world to be able to enjoy what I create. I’m also open to learning new languages myself down the line, but for now, it’s all about accessibility.
Q7. You’ve mentioned cosplay and Gundam building—how do those hobbies influence your VTuber persona?
Oh, totally! I’d love to do Gundam-building streams where fans vote on what I build live. And cosplay? I mean… how wild would it be to show up at a con cosplaying as myself? I want my content to reflect what I genuinely love.
Q8. You’re returning after a 7-month hiatus. How does it feel to be back?
Like coming home. I missed my community more than I can express. Debuting this new model feels emotional and deeply personal. I’m so ready to make new memories again with everyone who stuck around—and with the new faces joining us.
Q9. Can you tell us about your role in ‘Out of Love’ and your voice acting plans?
I now voice a new character in Out of Love—one who hasn’t been revealed yet, but really fits my tomboy tone. It’s been super fun and natural to bring her to life. I’ve been voice acting since 2016 and it’s something I definitely want to continue. Expect more roles soon!
Q10. Any future goals or dream collaborations you’d like to share?
I’d love to create my own Gamersupps flavor and cup. That’s been on my personal wish list for a while. I’m already partnered with them, so fingers crossed! I also hope to go to cons with my partner Leo Lione and keep collaborating with amazing creators in the space. I’m really grateful for the community around me.
Whether she’s building Gunpla, releasing spicy content, or building a company from the ground up, Taiga Torayami is a reminder that virtual creators can be just as real, intentional, and impactful as anyone else.
Her journey is still unfolding—but the message is already loud and clear: chaos can be powerful, if you give it a purpose.
